UK e-mail law 'attack on rights'

Mmmmm. So how come the Govt. can do this - and throw out millions of pounds to pay ISPs to store all this info. but doesn't spend a penny to do something useful like oh. I don't know - make sure ISPs aren't ripping us off on broadband charges - or do something to tackle spam - ANYTHING that would be of genuine tangible benefit to the general public - rather than just self-perpetuating their own paranoia.

Bearing in mind over in America there was plenty of intelligence and warning signs over September 11th 2001 - but it all got lost among the noise of all the other shit they were diligently collecting.

Think I might start looking into old PGP systems for my mail - if they're going to be paranoid anyway...
